Rambling of the Day: Babes in gangland

28 Aug

Here’s the headline that bit me in the butt this morning: Kids brave gangland as Chicago budget cuts redraw route to school. Holy cow. So if you haven’t been paying attention, the word is Chicago is broke and had to close 50 elementary schools and lay off 2,000 teachers last month. The result is that the kids from those schools have to attend different schools this year, many of which are blocks away with walking routes that cut through multiple gang territories.

“Most of Chicago’s cuts have taken place in the predominantly poor, African-American and Latino south and west sides, which is also where the majority of the city’s record 506 murders occurred last year.” Neil Munshi, Financial Times.

So… reading this, I instantly had three big questions come to mind. 1) Why is Chicago so broke? 2) Why is Chicago so dangerous and violent? 3) HOW in the bleepity bleep bleep is hiring a bunch of citizen sentries along so-called “Safe Passage” routes going to keep kids safe?!

So why is Chicago broke? That’s pretty simple: The state of Illinois has basically been run entirely by Democrats since 2003. That’s 10 years of unrelenting progressive abuse. Like they have in Detroit, progressive policies, including an insane amount of welfare programs and unfunded union and government pensions, have left the state devastated. So why do the same people keep get elected to run Chicago? Well, according to NBC Chicago, “Illinois’ GOP has become irrelevant because of its association with the national Republican brand: white and rural, with a desire to bring religion into public life, and a belief that the government has no business telling people how many guns they can own.” Oh, yeah right. It’s amazing how much trouble conservatives get into when they try to stereotype the left, but liberals can call us Bible-thumping, gun-wielding hicks any time and it’s acceptable. Regardless, the fact that Republicans in Illinois are white and religious has nothing to do with them losing elections in the state. That’s nonsense invented to distract people from the truth: that conservatives don’t support the growth and expansion of entitlement programs and other rubbish that keep the impoverished slums of Chicago from ever improving. The same policies that sent Detroit into bankruptcy – despite massive government assistance, including the auto bailout – are plummeting Chicago’s economy to certain ruin.

Why is it so dangerous to live in Chicago? Also a fairly simple answer: Chicago is a war zone. It isn’t just any ordinary war zone, however. It’s one in which the good guys are unarmed.

“Illinois remains the only state in the country where nobody can legally carry a concealed weapon…” Charlie Vidal, policymic.

Chicago has 59 gangs divided up into 625 factions with 125,000 members. Go here to see a map of the gang territories in respect to where schools are located. It is thoroughly disturbing.

Between the unbelievable number of gang members and the drug war that includes ties to a Mexican cartel, essentially the only armed people in Chicago are criminals and police officers. If you go through a complicated process, you can legally keep a gun in your home. However, only three percent of Chicagoans who own a firearm have even completed the city’s required firearm registration. Regardless, it is unlawful for the citizens of Chicago to arm themselves on their war-torn streets. The result is that the dangerous criminals of Chicago have a monopoly on illegal weapons, and, tragically, that Chicago is now the deadliest city in America.

So we have the deadliest city in America closing 50 of its elementary schools, many of which are in the poorest, most gang-ridden and violent areas, and what is the benevolent mayor’s solution? “Safe passage” – routes to the schools manned by adults armed with, what was that again? Oh yeah, walkie talkies. For many families affected by school closings, they will be sending their children through one or more gang territories to reach their destinations. Two people were already shot along the safe passage routes the day before school began. One was a 14-year-old boy who was within a block of an elementary school.

My assessment? Chicago is run by idiots, particularly that idiot Rahm Emanuel. Mr. Emanuel, if your kids had to walk through gang territories to get to their elementary schools, would you still be gung-ho on “Safe Passage?” Would it be good enough that the adults “supervising” their passage were armed only with walkie talkies?

Chicago needs to grow some balls. Get rid of the outrageous pensions that are sucking the economy dry. Make it harder to sit pretty on welfare. Make it better to work than to get a handout. Put the lives of children ahead of stupid policy ideals like gun control. The only guns being controlled are the ones sitting in people’s homes, not being used to save lives. I want our country to look at Chicago, our own personal third world within a first world, and DO SOMETHING about it. Stop focusing on Egypt and Syria. Yes, their problems are bad, but we need to clean up our own damn house before we start interfering with other people’s problems. Obama’s drawn a red line for Syria, but where’s his red line for his own hometown?! Mr. Obama, you are so devastated by the death of one black teenager in the suburbs of Florida, but what about the deaths of countless of innocents in your old stomping grounds? Why aren’t you outraged about that?

Rambling of the Day: The stench of deceit

13 Nov

Do you all smell that? Maybe it’s just me, but Washington reeks of a gigantic, horrific cover-up right now. And everything you’re seeing in the media right now is the attempt to deodorize that awful smell, but it is simply not going away. Be wary and do not let your guard down and for a moment think that this little smokescreen they’re spinning right now is the real deal.

I have no doubt General Petraeus has had an affair with his biographer. He has admitted to it and I accept that it is true. But this affair is not the story, and if the people are buying into it it’s because they have not been paying attention since September 11th of this year, when we lost Ambassador Stevens and three other Americans in Benghazi, Libya, in a terrorist attack

Let me just go through and outline for you the narrative that the media and the White House has spun since September 11, and you decide for yourself whether you think they’re being totally honest – or if maybe, just maybe, there is a scandal underneath it all.

First, the Obama administration, including the president himself, Jay Carney, Susan Rice, and Hillary Clinton, told the public that the attack on the Benghazi embassy was a spontaneous attack sparked by an anti-Muslim video made by an American. This narrative was repeated weeks after the attack. The president even made it clear in his speech to the UN on the 25th of September that the video, which was to blame for the spontaneous outrage and attack on the embassy, was deplorable and unrelated to the United States government. Here’s an excerpt of that speech:

“And that is what we saw play out in the last two weeks, where a crude and disgusting video sparked outrage throughout the Muslim world.  Now, I have made it clear that the United States government had nothing to do with this video, and I believe its message must be rejected by all who respect our common humanity.  It is an insult not only to Muslims, but to America as well” (ABC News).

In the Vice Presidential debate, Joe Biden defended the president and his administration by saying, “We weren’t told they wanted more security. We did not know they wanted more security there.” That was October 11th, a whole month after the attack, and two weeks after Benghazi was confirmed to have been a terrorist attack, not a spontaneous uprising caused by the video.  The White House finally admitted to the attack being one of terror on September 28th. So even after having to retract their misleading statements to the American people, the administration continued to insist that they “didn’t know” the extent of the problem. Hillary Clinton said the “fog of war” was to blame for the poor communication and the misleading statements made by the administration.

Okay, so you buy it up to this point? Maybe something’s starting to smell fishy? It continues. On October 23, Reuters released information that ripped the administration’s whole story to shreds. It was confirmed that three emails were sent during and after the attack “by the State Department’s Operations Center to multiple government offices, including addresses at the White House, Pentagon, intelligence community and FBI” (Reuters). The first email confirms that the embassy was under attack. The second email reported that the firing had stopped and the compound had been cleared. And the third, sent that very same day, reported that the group Ansar al-Sharia publicly took credit for the attack. Ansar al-Sharia is a Benghazi-based militia group with ties to al Qaeda.

You don’t smell it yet? Here’s another interesting fact: an unmanned drone is confirmed to have been sending real-time footage of the Benghazi attack back to Washington throughout the attack. This was a seven hour-long affair. You really think Obama wasn’t in the Situation Room for, say, a few minutes of that? You think he didn’t read those emails? If you think Obama was unaware of what was happening, are you not admitting that he is so out of touch with his administration that he has to be considered totally incompetent to be Commander-in-Chief? Forbes reported that “Special Operations Forces, transport aircraft and attack fighters were available 480 miles away at the U.S. military base in Sigonella, Sicily, but were never dispatched. An F18 fighter jet blazing in with afterburner thundering to unnerve attackers and take out mortar locations could have reached Benghazi in an hour” (Forbes).

So the emails and the live, real-time footage of the attack were all being sent to and seen by the administrators in the White House. So why did the attack go on for hours and hours with no response save for 22 men sent from Tripoli? “Obama, Panetta and Army General Martin Dempsey, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, discussed potential responses to the unfolding events in Benghazi during their meeting, which began 78 minutes after the start of the Libya attack, according to the timeline” (Reuters).

Well, we don’t know. We’re being told a lot of conflicting stories, but there has been no satisfying answer to why reinforcements were not sent. Why were the SEALs located a mile away at the CIA annex in Benghazi told to stand down, when they asked for permission to assist those at the embassy? They were a mile away. Who told them they had to stand down? No one will take responsibility for this little detail of the story. Was it Panetta? Was it Obama? Hillary? Who, for God’s sake, told these men that they had to stand down while their fellow Americans were under attack a mile away?

This is the real story. These are the answers the American people want. These are the answers Charles Woods, father of Tyrone Woods – the heroic SEAL who ignored orders to stand down and instead went to the embassy and gave his life to save others there – would like answered.

But what is the media reporting now? CIA director David Petreaus had an affair. And now he’s resigning, and he does not want to testify in the House hearings on Benghazi. That’s just a coincidence too? Doesn’t smell at all to you? What about if I told you the FBI had been investigating Petreaus’ affair since the summer. So if the FBI knew about his as early as June of this year, why on Earth is this all surfacing now, a week after the presidential elections, and days before Petreaus, who is a key witness for the hearings, was scheduled to testify in the House hearings on the Benghazi attack?

Nothing seems off to you here? This is all just normal, totally explainable, and everything that has happened since September 11th has been coincidental? Yeah, probably; I should really stop buying into these wild conspiracy theories.

Rambling of the Day: The evolution of a lie

19 Oct

I’m sure in our new and evolving world, where people’s beliefs and ideas about their own principles somehow evolve over time, we have new and evolving definitions of what a lie is. But I’m going to go out on a limb and be my old-fashioned self and say Mr. Obama lied in the debate Tuesday night when he tried to claim that he said, the day after the Benghazi attack, that the attack was an act of terror. Now, I’m slightly disappointed that Mitt Romney didn’t hammer him with the word terrorism. Instead, he struggled to pin him down by saying he did not call the attack an act of terror. What he should have said is, You did not call the attack an act of terrorism.

Saying something is an “act of terror” is not entirely synonymous with saying it is a “terrorist attack or “act of terrorism.” An act of terror can be any heinous act, like the shooting in the movie theater in Colorado. Rape can be considered an act of terror. That does not mean that it is an act of terrorism.

In his speech in the rose garden the day after the attack (Sept. 12), Obama said, “No acts of terror will ever shake the resolve of this great nation, alter that character, or eclipse the light of the values that we stand for.” He also called the attack a “terrible act.” He did not admit that it was a premeditated act of terrorism, which has vastly different implications. Now to be fair, one can use the word terror when talking about terrorism. So I’ll step back for a moment and say that if the president indeed called this an “act of terror,” attributing it to terrorism, then I would cut him some slack. What he said in the rose garden was not an admission that the attack in Benghazi was caused by terrorists. It was a general statement saying the resolve of the United States would not be shaken by acts of terror.

But really, that was only one day after the attack. Maybe he just didn’t have enough information yet. Okay, sure. But if Obama and his staff didn’t have enough information to call it an act of terrorism, then how could they possibly have had enough information to go around for two weeks spreading the idea that the attack was a spontaneous attack caused by an anti-Muslim Youtube video? If it would have been a premature assumption to call it a terrorist attack, then it certainly would have been an assumption to call it a spontaneous attack caused by an American-made Youtube video. Yes, it certainly would have been an assumption, a giant leap of an assumption – one that will now come back to bite this administration for its incompetence.

So, Obama comes out Tuesday night saying he said from the beginning this was an act of terror. Right. What Obama is trying to do here by twisting his words and rewriting recent history for the American people, who are obviously too unintelligent to figure out what was said ourselves, is exactly like what Bill Clinton tried to do with the Lewinski scandal. Rewrite history. Change the facts, or change what the facts mean, at least. Manipulate them in a way that won’t change the words that were said but will magically change their meaning. And then he will sigh and say, “Duh. Of course this is what I meant when I said that. Come on, try to follow, guys.” And we’ll slap our foreheads and suddenly be enlightened to what the meaning of the word is is.

By the way:

The White House now says the attack probably was carried out by an al Qaida-linked group, with no public demonstration beforehand. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton blamed the “fog of war” for the early conflicting accounts. (AP)

The “fog of war.” The conflicting stories from the CIA. This Youtube video. Mitt Romney’s speech the next day that threw everyone off. The other uprisings occurring throughout the Middle East. The fact that the president had to hurry off to Las Vegas to get to campaigning the next day. I don’t know, probably George W. Bush, too.

Everyone and everything is to blame for this misunderstanding. Everyone, that is, except the president, the commander-in-chief, who claimed in his rose garden speech, “I’ve also directed my administration to increase our security at diplomatic posts around the world,” yet takes no responsibility for the lack of security there in the first place. Perhaps he’s started attending his intelligence briefings and has decided to, you know, do his job. Perhaps this is just more rhetoric to try to calm down all of us who are overly excited and overly suspicious about this. But for those of us who are old fashioned, his administration has lied about this attack, and it will not be long before the cover-up – the cover-up that is always worse than the implications for telling the truth would have been – is brought to light.

Rambling of the Day: Our naked emperor

5 Oct

Blame it on Obama not watching enough MSNBC to know what the talking points are for slandering Romney.
Or blame it on Romney being too aggressive and not bowing down to the president.
Or take it from Al Gore and blame it on the a-a-a-a-a-altitude.

The left will look anywhere but in the mirror for the answer to why the leader of the free world bumbled and fumbled around the debate stage Wednesday night. But no matter how fiercely they try to create excuses for this latest debacle, a huge chunk of the blame for this tragedy of a performance rests on the shoulders of the lazy, sloppy, irresponsible mainstream media – a media that has allowed the president to go five years without be challenged or forced to stand up to opposition.

They have sugar-coated his interviews, covered only the stories that have fit into their specific agenda, and have allowed him to go five years without being vetted or challenged in any way. And if anyone tries to do their job for them, what happens? Where’s your birth certificate? Paranoid racists! College transcripts? Conspiracy theory racists! Your affiliation with Reverend Wright? Redneck extremist racists!

Well, it serves you right, folks. You have bred yourself a naked emperor, and now you are surprised that he has no clue how to react when someone points at him and asks where his clothes are.

And the other reason Obama failed in epic proportions Wednesday? Well, for those of us that know the real Obama, we are not surprised. The only thing that surprises us is that he did not make more of an attempt to mask who he is with the excuses we have been so accustomed to hearing from his administration. Left to his own devices, Obama is clueless as to how to defend his extreme socialist agenda in a way that sounds like it embraces capitalism. The few times he did try to make a clear point, he couldn’t help but insert his favorite phrases like “fair share” and “ladders of opportunity.” Obama truly would have been more successful in the debate if he would have come out and told Romney, “Fine, you got me. I’m a socialist!” – because at least then he would have spoken with some conviction.

Obama could not defend his position and show his love for the American way because these things are not in his heart. Romney clearly showed us his heart for America, through his strong desire to put Americans back to work and to defend the entrepreneurs and hard workers of this country. He sounded sincere because he is sincere. Obama stuttered and looked down and smirked childishly because he is not sincere about these issues. His heart was not in this debate because he does not believe in the American way the way Romney views it. He doesn’t like capitalism, he doesn’t understand the significance of small business, and he despises the success that comes from the traditional methods of hard work.

Without the assistance of the teleprompter, or the crew of MSNBC dictating the direction of his responses, Obama has no idea how to defend his radical agenda. Without a crowd to stir, faced only with the task of speaking honestly about what he stands for, he has no edge. He can come out the following day, away from the heat of his opponent’s gaze, and call him a liar to a crowd of adoring fans. And he can get away with it there, where no one is pressuring him to be honest or drilling him with the tough questions. He’s a community organizer – that’s what he understands and that’s where he can function comfortably.

In a few weeks, we will see what the American people will allow to prevail. We will see where the heart of the American people lies, and whether they will continue to allow Obama to go on being emperor, regardless of how embarrassed they are of his nakedness.

Rambling of the Day: Racial coding and other things you didn’t know existed

18 Aug

Okay, so I’m biased in my picture choice. I’m allowed to be; this is a blog, not the mainstream media… (caution: loaded with sarcasm, take with a grain of salt).

I apologize for doing yet another political post, but I am entirely too fired up about everything that has been happening recently. I believe I am at that point where I have so much to think and talk about that I’m going to implode and sound like an ignorant buffoon if I don’t settle down and take on one thing at a time.

We all know about double standards in politics. We find politicians saying things that go against their alleged beliefs; we see them doing things they once condemned others for doing. But I am sick, tired, disgusted, and downright infuriated at the loathsome, filthy double standards the current president’s supporters and regime drones have decided to use as the basis of their campaign.

By now we’ve all heard genius Joe Biden’s comments that Romney wants to put people “back in chains,” an announcement he made to a mixed-race crowd in Virginia. Biden alleged that Romney’s plan to allow banks to operate on their own terms would unleash Wall Street and… what was that phrase again, Mr. Vice President? Oh, yes – “PUT Y’ALL BACK IN CHAINS!”

Now, the vice president can say whatever he wants, in my opinion. He can continue to dig a nice, comfortable political grave for his partner and himself, for all I care. But I DON’T WANT TO HEAR IT from the media when his stupidity backlashes on him. If Romney wants to truthfully respond to the obvious, gaping wounds Biden has decided to self-inflict, get over it. (In case all of this is new news to you, Romney finally took the offensive against the VP’s nonsensical accusation, saying, “This is what an angry and desperate presidency looks like… take your campaign of division and anger and hate back to Chicago.”) Obama and his campaign are trying to use divisive language to get people to fear and hate Romney and secure a fear-driven vote for themselves. Romney is only one of millions of us that see this happening, and he has every right to point it out. If the media doesn’t want to shed light on the fact that the Obama campaign is race baiting and attempting to cause race and class warfare so that they can secure another four years flying in Air Force One, then someone has to. That someone may as well be the person with the only chance of taking Obama’s power away.

So what happens when a conservative calls the vice president out for his racial remarks? Oh, it’s just too predictable, but I’ll go ahead and recap in case you haven’t heard or guessed yet. MSNBC’s “The Cycle” host Touré (does this guy thing he’s a pop star or something? Just Touré? Like just Madonna, or just Cher? Yeah, okay, buddy) has accused Romney of “racial coding,” for his response after Biden’s gaffe. Touré argued, “He’s really trying to use racial coding and access some really deep stereotypes about the angry black man.” Racial coding. Is it similar to Morse Code, I wonder? I don’t know – I’ve yet to receive my official racial decoder from my secretive, conspiring group of fellow conservatives; perhaps Touré can help me get my hands on one because I am certainly not a fluent racial decoder. And just when we thought it couldn’t get worse, Touré throws in the fact that this is “niggerization… You are not one of us, you are like the scary black man that we’ve been trained to fear.”

I’m sorry, but this man invents his own racist term and definition, and somehow we are the racists? If ever a news station made a mistake in hiring a television show host… but I digress.

Obama’s campaign is an angry campaign. It is one that will stop at nothing to destroy its opponent, because there is no other way it can win. There is no hope, no change, no promise for a better future. There are only excuses for failure, lies about the future, and hateful slander against anyone standing in the way of their governmental wrecking ball. There is nothing racist about pointing this out. It has nothing to do with whether Obama is white, black, purple, or yellow. Skin color is irrelevant at this point. I’m sure there will still be people who will vote for Obama solely because he is a black man (who’s the racist at that point?) but, let’s be real, most of us are way past that. The comments of his own vice president and supporters are quickly spiraling his campaign downward, and their only hope for victory lies in their unconditional, unwavering support of the media.

I’ve written before on the dishonesty of the mainstream media. It is no longer the nation’s watchdog; in fact it has become more like a trained police dog. Just visualize it and you’ll know what I mean – the officer has the dog smell whatever he needs it to find, and the dog goes sniffing around the high school lockers until he finds the one with the bag of marijuana hidden underneath a geometry book. Fresh-out-of liberal-university journalists come to MSNBC and are given a big whiff of “conservative” and told, “Go, dog, go!” And they do! And the result is evident in what have come to be considered relevant attacks on anyone on the right trying to oppose the Obama posse.  It is despicable and irresponsible, and it is not journalism.
